A bunch of my fam came into town for Halloween and we had a blast. Sawyer got to hang out with his little cuz Adlee. We had a party for Halloween and made carmel apples while watching some world series baseball. Good times!

THE BEACH

Oh the irony....
So my parents came through town this last week and we went to Newport Beach for my cousin's wedding. On the chore list for my dad when he came to town was building Sawyer a sand box. He already built the cutest pirate ship sand box, and is going to install it this weekend. Come to find out...the kid hates sand. For your viewing pleasure...
But so long as he was being held he was a happy camper...

The good life!

We've been living the good life since Nate finished his first year of medical school (wahoo!!!...clap clap...cheer...scream). It is like the most exciting thing to just have a husband again...and one that smiles none the less. J/k...I am unbelievably proud of him. This is the most demanding endeavor, and Nate handles it beautifully. I can admit I'm a little bit needy, and he manages to keep me sane and happy, he always makes time for Sawyer(no matter how sleep deprived he is), and all while getting amazing grades. He deserves a big kudos!

Here is a little of what we have been doing lately....

Sawyer's first trip to the zoo.

We took a trip to Zion's and hiked the emerald pools.

We have two new babies...

Britt and Scott's baby Grady Michael Bell at an
UNBELIEVABLE...10 lbs 4 oz

...and Isaac and Kelsie's little Adlee Maylen Trujillo weighing in at 6 lbs 1 oz.

One of my good friends Angie got married...

...and Sawyer swimming naked with Grandpa Mortensen. It doesn't get much better than this!

New pics

What a cute kid, huh? This is how Sawyer spends most of his day....rolling around, and lucky for us, smiling. Now that he can roll over, that's all he does all day long. I'll lay him on a blanket in the middle of a room and next thing I know he is whining because he is stuck against a wall. He does not like to stay put for long. I know crawling is just around the corner, so we're in for a treat. He's started on rice cereal a few weeks ago, and what can I say but the kid is just like his mama....he likes to eat. I can't shovel it in fast enough, so he often grabs the bowl and tries to bring it to his wide open mouth to help himself.

Spring Fever!

My cute brothers! What great dads they will be, for Isaac in two months and for Nick I give it about 9:)

I love this time of year! Although spring is now the calm before the storm instead of the calm after the storm, I still love it. In a short month or so, it will be an unpleasant 100 degrees and climbing, so for now we'll enjoy the pleasant 80's. I hesitate to admit that I love spring is because it's the start of baseball season. It's in my blood. We just got back from the annual spring training trip to Phoenix to visit my brother and his wife (and baby Parley in utero), and of course to watch baseball. We have our fantasy baseball draft this Sunday. The only downer is that Nate and I will not be playing much softball this summer. It's a sad casualty of medical school and baby making, but I suppose it's worth it. The softball leagues have been in session for a few months here already, and every time we drive by a field I have to steer for Nate while he drools for a few seconds, and then we can get on with our day. Funny thing is, I'm really not exaggerating. Considering we were at the baseball fields 3-4 nights a week for the past 5 summers, I'm wondering what we will be doing with all of our spare time(ok, what I will be doing with all of MY spare time). Look, even Sawyer likes baseball...or the Yankees anyways. That is indoctrination at it's finest!
Speaking of Sawyer, he can roll over! This is big in mom life. It started last night with just the legs but he couldn't quite get the momentum for that head. Today he made the full rotation. Wahoo! I know that this has become a mom blog, but what can I say; not much else is cooler or more interesting than my kid. Let me think....the meltdown of our entire economic empire?...nope, not cooler. How about my life as an insurance adjuster?....certainly not more interesting. So, until something more noteworthy comes along, I'm going to keep blogging about this adorable little guy(who is quickly becoming not so little anymore).

Here's what's been going on...

I figured it was time for an update. Nate made it through another week of block exams, which was madness like usual. He pretty much quarantined himself in the bedroom for the entire weekend before, and then got about 3-4 hours of sleep a night the entire week of his finals. We got to spend about an hour together on Valentine's day, but I definitely felt worse for him than for me. His hard work paid off, and he did super well on all of his exams.

I went back to work a couple of weeks ago, which was quite the adjustment. Sawyer is getting watched by my friend Alisha and her sweet little girl Leila. It's hard to be away from him all day, but I get to be super excited to come home to him.

My mom came into town on the weekend of Valentine's Day to entertain me, and help me get my house in order before going back to work. We had take out Cafe Rio and Cheesecake Factory for our Valentine's dinner. What a date!

Thanks mom!

Sawyer's first kicks. Thanks Rich and Heather!

Our little man is getting bigger, and longer all the time.

He smiles! Ok, he's been doing this for awhile but it's like the greatest thing ever.

His new little jumper toy. His feet are still like a foot from the ground and he has blankets wedging him in, but we thought we'd try it out. He's gonna love it, can't you tell?

Nate and I went to this fun Morrocan restaurant for a late V-day dinner. This belly dancer was amazing...I've never seen hips move like that. You had to eat with your hands like straight outta Along Came Polly. It was super fun!

Nate's parents came into town last weekend for some golf and r&r. It was good times.
